with a home-built conversion of a Orion XT12 dobsonion telescope onto a motorized equatorial mount, Pentax K1000D
Total exposure is just under 2 hours, over 40 frames and 2 nights of near perfect conditions
near Kalkaska, MI. I used a broadband filter for 10 frames to try to get some color differentiation,
I removed some of the background stars using a home-made software application
I've been experimenting with. Thanks!- Steve Lomas |

I took several photos of the sun during the afternoon with just a regular
digital camera and captured something though Im not sure what. This is what
appeared after enhancing the sharpness and contrast. If anyone knows please send
me an email at evandd2001@yahoo.com. By the way the insert thats cropped in is
from a different photo. I included it to show that its not an anomaly created by
the camera.

Got a scientific name for this one?
I took this (and many other pics of this "cloud") outside my home in Colorado Springs on Dec 21st, 2004 (note the date). It formed out of nowhere from the southeast and remained in formation until after sundown. I used a digital Canon A20 on "auto" and took about 30 pics in all over a 30 minute period - where it continued to move off to the SE. Then morphed into something else. Almost comical.

I was setting up for the ISS Solar transit, and did my best to set up the
frame so that I could include the sunspot 963 with the ISS silhouette. The
predicted path seemed to across the disk indicated that the ISS should pass
close to the sunspot. I got everything framed, focused, waited for and
waited for the right time. At transit, I saw something flash across the
frame during capture. I opened up the AVI, scanned across the frames and was
THRILLED to see I had at leaset one frame that captured both the ISS and
Sunspot 963. Imagine my delight to later discover I captured 3 frames of the
ISS passing. Proceessed in Photoshop Contrast Enhanced, False Color,

This is my first attempt at taking photos of the
moon and Saturn. Taken with a Kodak CX6445 through a 6" Reflector Telescope. I used a PL25mm lens with 11.2 zoom and refocused the image and this is the results.
Moon 1 is without light cover cap, Moon 2 is with 14.00 zoom with the light cover cap
on. .Saturn is with cover cap at 15.00 zoom with PL25mm lens I put them on the same image together. looks cool.

The camera I used was Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P72. That photo was taken in Sao Lourenco do
Sul, a city of South of Brazil, next one of the biggest lakes around the world. It was taken in the afternoon when the sun was going down. It was selected for that photo the landscape mode without flash. In fact, I took several pictures at that moment and I selected this one to be added to SkyChasers page because it seemed to me the best position of the sun with the clouds letting its light passes through them.

converging in the eastern horizon (the Sun was nearing to disappear in the
western horizon). A faint secondary bow was visible for a few minutes. Kind regards,

I took this photo while the passenger in a car crossing over the Broad River Bridge in Columbia, SC. The sun was setting over the river from the South.
The Broad River has a place called, "The River", where teens and young adults go to sunbathe on the
smooth large rocks. This place is just near the Riverbanks Zoo and you can hear the roars of the lions and screeches of the monkeys and squawks of the birds as you lay on those rocks in the Southern sun.

most incredible colors in the sky. We were on Belleville Lake in Southeastern Michigan.

"My kids alerted me to their appearance at 9:30, and I photographed them for about an hour. By 10:30, they were gone! They were better than the aurora from the 4th.

Taken on the evening of Dec. 6, 2002 at approximately 11:30 PM. The location is near Palmer, Alaska not far from the Knik
Glacier. With the cooperation of the clear sky I was graced with a fast
moving show. The lack of moonlight that night is clearly shown in the very
dark foreground. The aurora display lasted for approx. 90 minutes.
Photo taken with Canon bodies and lens.

On August the 12th, 2000 after a display of northern lights and Persiod
Meteor Showers, the colors of the night sky seem to have painted the early morning landscape. The upper McKenzie valley disappears into a
fuchsia haze and the distant peaks of Mt. Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack and Mt. Washington highlight the distant horizon. Nikor 35 mm wide angle with split graduated neutral

The
Oct 28 show was a present for my birthday. I have trouble seeing reds in
the aurora but not this night. At one point it was a solid red from east
to west. I have never seen the whole north sky taken over by one band of
color. This picture is the left side of the red wall. It took my breath
away. Now if I could just get the aurora to come earlier than 2:45 am. Pentex 1000
with at 28mm lens at f 2.8 Fuji ASA 400 film. average time 12 seconds.
