In this image, the Sun resembles an orange bulb due to the mirage and  lensing effects of the atmosphere. Miami, Alexandria, Egypt -22 February 2006. The foreground statue is BA's Statue of Prometheus.The heavy rains followed a titanic dust storm during which I photographed a blue Sun and a blue Moon.

I am delighted to submit my photo "Blue Contrail". On 26 March 2006, I was observing in the Plaza of the Bibliotheca Alexandrian, expecting to snap Sun coronae, under a partly cloudy sky. As the Sun passed through transparent couds, it began to beam wonderful coronae; the clouds began ......
BlueContrail_22.jpg (26282 bytes)..... to burst in colours. And in a graceful moment, an aircraft, flying at a high altitude, left a contrail that gleamed in blue light, reflected off the colourful clouds. Date: 26 March 2006

The photo shows the Moon and a clever bird (I believe it was a hawk). This bird performed graceful glides, and then managed to float for several  minutes.

The photo shows a colourful icebow and mock Suns that dazzled over the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, on 30 September 2006. A soaring bird (I believe it to be a falcon) is seen to the right of the photographer's hand. This is the first Sun halo display I record this autumn.

GP13_8A copy.jpg (36452 bytes)Dear Colleagues, I am delighted to submit my new photo "In the Shadow of the Great Pyramid". The photo shows the shadow of the Great Pyramid (GP) cast in the sky. I obtained the photo on 26 August 2006. I was standing in the shadow of GP. When I gazed in the sky, I saw another  pale pyramid. Continued observation showed that it is the shadow of GP!
